Recently the European commission published the second wave of calls for the Digital Europe funding program. The program is tailored towards organizations investing in digital technology research, development, market deployment and the overall digital transformation of the Union. The programme has a budget of over € 7.5 billion to support the development of a wide range of strategic digital technologies. The focus areas to which the commission grants funding are:
- Supercomputing
- Artificial intelligence
- Cybersecurity
- Advanced digital skills
- Ensuring the wide use of digital technologies across the economy and society
The new wave of calls will open on 22 February with the deadline being 17 May 2022. The ‘simple grants’ are interesting with a 50% funding rate and a possible grant amount of up to € 10 M. The 17 released calls include some of the following topics:
- Testing & experimentation facilities for agrifood
- Health
- Manufacturing and Smart Cities & Communities
- Different sectoral data spaces
- Cybersecurity
- A variety of different deployment actions
