As of the first of April 2021, stage 2 of the Border Operating Model will start. Goods subject to Sanitary and Phytosanitary controls will have additional requirements put on them when imported into the UK.
What does this mean for your business?
For the import of these kinds of products as of the first of January of this year, additional requirements are already applied when importing into the EU and we have seen quite some issues. Resulting in shipments being stopped and even destroyed due to the correct paperwork not being in place (and the products being perishable).
As of the first of April, there are additional requirements on these kinds of products when importing into the UK as well. We strongly advise businesses to already investigate what this means for them. Which additional documents/certificates are required, where do I need to register to obtain them, do I need an authorisation to obtain them, how long will it take to register, how do I exactly need to complete the additional documentation etc.
