UBO obligations – Time to take action – Deadline 31 August 2021

Published

In our previous newsflash, we already informed you about the new (disclosure) obligations in the UBO-register imposed by the Royal Decree of 23 September 2020.

The Federal Public Service Finance (FPSF) has announced that the deadline (i.e. 30 April 2021) for uploading supporting documents and annual confirmation of the information in the UBO Register will be extended to 31 August 2021. Furthermore, a new version of the frequently asked questions (FAQ), updated as per 9 July 2021, has been published.

This extension will give reporting entities the necessary time to apply the FAQ and avoid being subject to the penalties that will be imposed from 1 September 2021 onwards.

Nevertheless, reporting entities who arrange the UBO registration for the first time or amend the register as from 11 October 2020, still need to upload these documents immediately upon registration, which should be done within one month.

How can we assist you?

As the analysis of the information to be disclosed in the UBO-register can be complicated, PwC can assist you with the uploading of the supporting documents as well as the annual confirmation. We can also assist you with the request to hide all or certain data of an UBO in the register or implementation of your digital shareholders register in eStox. If you have any other questions with regard to this matter, please reach out to be.uboregister@pwc.com or your regular PwC advisor.
